Please note: deadline has been extended! You can still register for this competition.

Why should you enter?

This is a great opportunity to compete against other architecture students in the greater Boston area. We are giving students a program that is not normally given to students in architecture studios. There is a lot of design freedom in this program and it should be an enjoyable experience to create an environment for student bands from any college to perform.

Please read everything below carefully.

COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS/PARAMETERS:

  • You must design a "Garage Venue" for student rock bands.
  • This venue can take the form of a student bar, coffee house or any other idea you might have for a performance center.
  • The location can be anywhere on your college's campus.
  • You may include as many rooms/spaces as you like, but the venue may not exceed 3,000 square feet.
  • Only undergraduates may enter this competition, and teams may contain no more than four members.

FINAL REVIEW

  • Your presence is recommended at the final review, which will be held at Tufts University.
    • If you enter as a team, only the team leader needs to attend but the entire team is encouraged to attend.
  • The review will consist of only one round in which all participants present their work within an allotted time (plan on a maximum of 10 minutes to explain your work, with 20 minutes of the jury's critique to follow).
    • For those who cannot attend, you are still encouraged to enter. You must send a full written description (maximum of 1500 words) of your work.
    • Work will be judged based on quality, not quantity- so individuals who enter will not be at a disadvantage.
